Parent Volunteer Information
Purpose:
Your child’s education takes
a team effort. The parent volunteer
program is a key element that will help make our students successful. It is designed to give students time to work
in small groups on projects and skills and to receive valuable one-on-one
attention. It also gives parents the
opportunity to see the exciting activities going on in their children’s school
and classroom. Volunteering also
affords the opportunity to find additional strategies in working with their own children at home. And finally, volunteering shows the children
the value and importance parents and community members place on education.
Commitment:
The School-Within-A-School program requires that parents work with
their children four hours per month, with at least one of those hours being
spent at school. Up to three hours can
be “banked” to help those parents with work conflicts. To put it simply, a
parent may choose to work three hours in one day taking care of three months of
in-school volunteer hours. Other family
members may fulfill the volunteer time commitment. An aunt, uncle, grandparent or family friend could come work in
place of the parent. Additional hours
are always welcome!
School-Within-A-School
sponsored evening events count as in school hours.
Field trips do not count
toward volunteer hours.
In order for the program
to be effective and run smoothly:
Your level of commitment
determines your child’s eligibility for the School-Within-A-School program from
one year to the next. We will help in
any way possible. We have an employer
letter that is available upon request.
Let us know how we can assist you in meeting your commitments.
